TMRE 廣泛用於標記活細胞中的線粒體,但不相容固定後的細胞。這種親脂性且帶正電的染料快速滲透質膜,不與膜蛋白相互作用而形成聚集體。TMRE 由於其跨膜電位而選擇性地積聚在活性線粒體中。
