(C18) Octadecanoyl-L-carnitine-d3 chloride is a deuterated derivative of stearoyl-L-carnitine. The reagent is intended for use as an internal standard for the quantification of stearoyl-L-carnitine by GC- or LC-MS.

In addition, (C18) Octadecanoyl-L-carnitine d3 chloride, is suitable for the determination of (C18:1) Oleoyl-L-carnitine, (C18:2) Linoleoyl-L-carnitine, (C18:1OH) 3-hydroxyoleoylcarnitine, (C18:2OH) 3-hydroxylinoleoylcarnitine.

These acylcarnitines are biomarkers in the diagnosis of metabolic disorders such as carnitine palmitoyltransferase deficiency type I, type II, carnitine-acylcarnitine translocase (CACT) deficiency, Long-chain 3-hydroxyacyl-CoA dehydrogenase (LCHAD) deficiency, glutaric acidemia type II.
