Alkyne-PEG3-NHS ester is a bifunctional molecule containing NHS ester and alkyne functional groups. NHS ester group is used for the labeling of amine groups, like lysine and terminal NH₂, in proteins and peptides. The terminal alkyne group is useful for copper-catalyzed click chemistry (CuAAC) or Sonogashira coupling.

PEG3 is a hydrophilic linker providing a good separation between the parts of the conjugate.

Azidomethyldeoxyuridine (AmdU) is an azide-contained nucleoside that is incorporated into nascent DNA by cellular polymerases. The azide groups attached to DNA this way can be subsequently modified with alkynes or cycloalkynes via copper-catalyzed or strain-promoted click reaction.
