It is a highly specific biomarker synthesized in the adrenal glands, used to diagnose the most common form of Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH) caused by 21-hydroxylase deficiency. Specifically, the measurement of this hormone is applied to confirm the diagnosis of 21-hydroxylase deficiency, identify heterozygous carriers of CYP21A2 gene mutations, and differentiate this condition from another form of CAH — 11β-hydroxylase deficiency.
Using a high-purity reference standard is critical to ensure the accuracy and reliability of these analyses.
